I downloaded a bazillion pictures as chief David down on my computer, but all are too small, and when I try to increase the blur. How can big enough for my laptop? Specific instructions would be great. Thank you!

You need a higher resolution. If you enlarge a digital image, you create confusion when you have created an image to be so big.
I'm not sure you found some photos if it can be difficult to explain.
Maybe just Google "David Cook Wallpaper" and see if you find one. Then:
Click on the image and select "Set as o Wallpaperm:
Click on the image and save it on your computer. Then save the image to your desktop as you would normally do.
Short answer can only download images that are to a great extent available, to begin with. There is no reasonable way to extend the typical image of the site and it still looks decent, such as pictures on the Web are at the lowest resolution. This is purposely done to facilitate faster download times.
You can not have the best photos they have already ... In general, more photos can fluff, but they need to start the right size.
I want to make a collage of images and use for the background, instead if you want those you have.
